Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AutoNote handles information when you use the AutoNote app, website, AI study tools, Google Drive import, lecture video, sharing, and support services.
Information We Collect
AutoNote is built so local note-taking can work on your device. Some features need cloud services or accounts.
- Account information such as email address, username, display name, sign-in identifiers, and account settings.
- Study content you choose to use with cloud features, including notebook titles, PDF or note content, page images, annotations, flashcards, AI prompts, AI outputs, and lecture chat context.
- YouTube lecture-video searches and selected YouTube video IDs when you choose to search, paste, link, or play a YouTube video inside a notebook.
- Google Drive import information when you paste a Drive link, including the shared link, folder or file metadata, supported file names, import status, and imported file content needed to create notebooks.
- Shared notebook, friends, group, comment, invite, task, and collaboration content when you use social or sharing features.
- Support information you send us, including your email address, message, screenshots, device details, and troubleshooting details.
- Diagnostics that you choose to enable or send, such as billing and app troubleshooting logs.
How We Use Information
- Provide note-taking, PDF annotation, flashcards, AI review, Drive import, sharing, and account features.
- Apply server-side AI credit limits, prevent abuse, and sync account credits.
- Generate AI summaries, explanations, flashcards, definitions, and lecture chat answers when you request them.
- Find, verify, link, and play YouTube lecture videos that you choose for note-taking.
- Keep shared notebooks, friends, groups, comments, and collaboration features working.
- Respond to support requests, investigate bugs, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
- Comply with legal, security, tax, and platform obligations.
AI Study Tools
AutoNote may send the content you choose to use with AI features to server-side AI providers, including Google Gemini, to generate study output. Depending on your settings and feature, AutoNote may use redacted content, selected page content, rendered page images, audio or visual context, or full document context. Do not submit content you do not have permission to use.
AI output can be inaccurate. You should review generated summaries, explanations, flashcards, and answers before relying on them for studying, exams, medical decisions, legal decisions, financial decisions, or other important uses.
Lecture Video
If you search YouTube, paste a YouTube link, or play a YouTube video from AutoNote, your search terms, selected video ID, and playback request may be sent to Google or YouTube through AutoNote backend services and the embedded YouTube player. AutoNote stores only lightweight notebook link metadata such as the selected YouTube video ID, title, channel, thumbnail URL, duration, and refresh time. AutoNote does not download, store, or provide offline copies of YouTube videos.
Sharing and User Content
If you share notebooks, comments, group messages, flashcards, invites, or other content with other users, those users may be able to view, copy, save, or share that content. You are responsible for the content you upload, import, create, or share in AutoNote.
To report abuse, offensive content, copyright concerns, or safety issues, contact support@autonote.tech. AutoNote may remove content, restrict access, or suspend accounts that violate our Terms or community standards.
Third-Party Services
AutoNote uses service providers to operate the app:
- Supabase-hosted backend services for authentication, account data, cloud features, collaboration, Drive import, and AI job processing.
- Google APIs for Google Drive import when you paste supported Drive links.
- YouTube APIs and the YouTube embedded player for lecture-video search and playback when you choose to use those features.
- Google Gemini for AI generation when you use AI features.
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Local Device Data
Notes, imported files, drawings, app settings, and study data may be stored locally on your device. Apple device backups, iCloud device backup settings, file sharing, or exports may affect where local data is copied outside AutoNote.
Data Retention and Deletion
AutoNote keeps information for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve support requests, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. You can delete your AutoNote account from the app. Account deletion removes or disables cloud account data tied to your account, except information we must keep for legal, security, fraud prevention, or dispute reasons.
Deleting the app from your device may remove local app data from that device. It does not automatically delete cloud account data unless you also delete your AutoNote account from inside the app.
Your Choices
- Use local note-taking features without using optional cloud or AI features when available.
- Choose privacy settings for AI and storage features inside the app.
- Delete your AutoNote account from the app.
- Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or help with privacy questions.
Children
AutoNote is a study tool and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
